From Junction 40 on the M6 take the 4th exit if travelling from the south or the second if coming from the north, onto the A66 eastbound which is a short length of dual cariageway. After 1 mile take the 4th exit at the roundabout signposted Eamont Bridge, follow the road through the village and turn right onto the B5320 signposted Pooley Bridge and Ullswater.
Continue over the motorway and railway and after passing through Tirril turn left into a narrow lane signposted Celleron and Askham. Continue up the lane for nearly a mile and at the juntion at the top turn left signposted Askham and Haweswater, keep going for almost a mile along a winding lane until you see an entrance on the right with green signs saying High Winder House and Cottages.
Turn left over the cattle grid and follow the drive. After a second cattle grid the drive swings left up the hill through the fields. Do not head straight ahead at this point or you will end up at a nearby farm! Continue up through the fields and you will see High Winder ahead of you.
Alternatively heading from the south you can leave the motorway at junction 39 ,turn right onto the A6 and contiue through Shap and after Hackthorpe turn left signposted Askham. In Askham turn right and just after leaving the village bear left into a narrow lane, continue for about 1 mile and turn left at the green sign into the lane.
Please use these directions when making the final approach from Askham or Celleron as Satnav systems will almost certainly take you somewhere else as the postcode covers a wide area!
